The functioning of the SSWA

  • The SSWA attaches great importance to the contacts between the base and the Central Committee. In order to consolidate the relations between the Central Committee and the sections and to fulfill professionally the tasks that involve the SSWA, two representatives from each section take part in the meetings of the Central Committee. In addition the Central Committee hires external consultants.
  • The transparency of information is important for the Central Committee of the SSWA. Between 2001 and 2005 the SSWA published a printed "Journal". An attempt was made between 2006 and 2008 to reduce the costs by publishing the Newsletter on the internet. But since numerous women artists are not connected to the internet, the SSWA published once again on paper in 2008.
  • The website  makes known the activities of the society, announces exhibits of its members, current competitions, etc.. It is also the link with websites of the artists and offers a "mini-homepage" to its active members.
  • The members of the Central Committee perform their activities without remuneration, but their costs are covered.
